Questo percorso che passa da splendidi borghi con case venete porta al famoso monastero storico di Arkadi.
.Da Rethymno, prendendo la vecchia strada nazionale, il percorso conduce al villaggio turistico di Platanias e da lì ad Adele, un tranquillo villaggio con il suo insediamento centrale risalente all'era veneziana.
.Da Adele, la strada prosegue verso Agia Triada o Santa Trinita per i Veneziani. Nel centro del paese si trova la chiesa veneziana di Santa Trinita.
.La strada da qui sale verso sud con la direzione di Charkia, e passa attraverso un impressionante paesaggio selvaggio e roccioso.Charkia è impreziosita dalla chiesa di Agia Anna e dalla maestosa quercia che è stata caratterizzata come un “ monumento naturale”.
A una distanza di 3, 5 km a est, è il villaggio Kavousi.In questo bellissimo e tranquillo villaggio ad un'altitudine di 560 metri, interessante da visitare è la chiesa conservata di Agios Ioannis Theologos risalente all'epoca veneziana.All'uscita del villaggio, c'è una piccola foresta rara di quercia Holm.
.Poco prima di Arkadi, la strada si imbocca a destra verso Thronos di Amari, un altro bellissimo percorso, mentre a sinistra, conduce al famoso monastero storico di Arkadi attraverso una foresta di grandi pini.Si scende poi verso Amnatos, un bellissimo villaggio con molte dimore veneziane, con la più interessante è la dimora della famiglia Sanguinatsu che conserva una bella porta veneta con l'iscrizione:“INITIUM SAPIENTE TIMOR DOMINI” (Saggezza è la paura del Signore). C'è anche un Folk Art Museum e il Museo della Scuola. La vista della valle di Rethymno da questo villaggio è incredibile.
Kirianna è il prossimo villaggio.In questo villaggio storico, ci sono diversi templi antichi.Ci sono ancora pochi elementi architettonici dello stile rinascimentale e la chiesa bizantina di Panagia, costruita nello stile architettonico di una croce libera con una cupola, domina imponente.Questa chiesa adorna il villaggio dall'inizio dell'XI secolo ed è uno degli esempi più interessanti di architettura ecclesiastica a Creta.
La strada continua verso il villaggio di Loutra.Qui vale la pena visitare i bellissimi vicoli del villaggio con le case in pietra, e una bella fontana con un'iscrizione turca.La strada raggiunge Rethymno dopo aver attraversato i villaggi di Pigi e Adele.

Rethymno – Arkadi
This route passing by beautiful villages with Venetian houses leads to the famous historical Monastery of Arkadi.
From Rethymno, taking the Old National Road, the route leads to the tourist village of Platanias and from there to Adele, a quiet village with its central settlement dating back to the Venetian era.
From Adele, the road forks off towards Agia Triada or Santa Trinita for the Venetians. In the center of the village is located the Venetian church of Santa Trinita.
The road from here climbs up southwards with the direction to Charkia, and passes through an impressive wild and rocky landscape. Charkia is embellished by the church of Agia Anna and the majestic oak tree which has been characterized as a “natural monument”.
At a distance of 3, 5 km to the east, is the village Kavousi. In this beautiful and quiet village at an altitude of 560 meters, interesting to visit is the preserved church of Agios Ioannis Theologos dating back to the Venetian era. At the exit of the village, there is a small rare forest of Holm oak.

There are still scarce architectural elements of the Renaissance style and the Byzantine church of Panagia, built in the architectural style of a free cross with a dome, dominates imposingly. This church adorns the village since the beginning of the 11th century and is one of the most interesting examples of ecclesiastical architecture in Crete.
The road continues towards the village of Loutra. Here it is worthwhile to visit the beautiful alleys of the village with the stone houses, and a beautiful fountain with a Turkish inscription. The road reaches Rethymno having first passed through the villages of Pigi and Adele.
