Μια σχετικά μικρή διαδρομή, ιδανική για να δείτε τα χωριά που απλώνονται πάνω από τους βόρειους πρόποδες του βουνού Βρυσίνας.
Η Αγία Ειρήνη είναι χωριό όπου υπάρχει το ομώνυμο μοναστήρι της Αγίας Ειρήνης που χρονολογείται στο 1362.Το 1995, το μοναστήρι τιμήθηκε με το Βραβείο Europa Nostra European Preservation and Renovation for Architectural Monuments Award.
.Σήμερα ξεχειλίζει από πνευματικότητα ως κοινότητα δέκα μοναχών, που ασχολούνται με αγιογραφία, ύφανση και κεντήματα. Στο μοναστήρι, υπάρχει και εκκλησιαστικό μουσείο.
.Το Χρωμονάστηρι είναι ένα χωριό όπου πρέπει κανείς να επισκεφθεί την υπέροχη Βίλα Κλαούντιο, που ονομάζεται επίσης «Κωνάκι», καθώς χρησίμευε ως επίσημη κατοικία κατά τη διάρκεια της Οθωμανικής κυριαρχίας, και άλλα Ενετικά Κτίρια.Θα δείτε επίσης τις βυζαντινές εκκλησίες της Παναγίας της Κεράς και του Αγίου Ευτύχιου με τοιχογραφίες του 11ου και 14ου αιώνα, οι οποίες θεωρούνται ως οι παλαιότερες γνωστές τοιχογραφίες στην Κρήτη.
.Το Χρωμοναστήρι βραβεύτηκε με το βραβείο «Καθαριστικός Οργανωμένος Παραδοσιακός Οικισμός» από την Επιτροπή Τουριστικής Προβολής Νομού Ρεθύμνου.

.Ο δρόμος από το Ρέθυμνο ανεβαίνει προς τον γραφικό οικισμό της Μικρής Ανώγειας και της Αγίας Ειρήνης όπου βρίσκεται ένα μοναστήρι με το ίδιο όνομα που χρονολογείται το 1362.Το 1995, τιμήθηκε με το βραβείο Europa Nostra European Preservation and Renovation for Architectural Monuments Award.

.Δεξιά στην εκκλησία θα δείτε τα πιο χαρακτηριστικά ενετικά σπίτια που σώζονται στο χωριό.Η διαδρομή από εδώ οδηγεί στο μικρό, καταπράσινο φαράγγι των Μηλιών και ανεβαίνει στο χωριό Χρωμονάστηρι, όπου βρίσκεται η μαγευτική Βίλα Κλώντιο, φιλοξενώντας το Στρατιωτικό Μουσείο.

Rethymno – Prasses
A relatively short route, ideal to see the villages that are spread over the northern foot of mount Vrissinas.
Agia Irini is a village where there is the homonym monastery of Agia Irini dating to 1362. In 1995, the monastery was awarded the Europa Nostra European Preservation and Renovation for Architectural Monuments Award.
Nowadays it brims with spirituality being a community of ten nuns, occupied with hagiography, weaving and embroidery. In the monastery, there is also an ecclesiastical museum.
Chromonastiri is a village where one should visit the magnificent Villa Claudio, called also “Konaki”, as it served as an official residence during the Ottoman domination, and other Venetian Buildings. You will also see the Byzantine churches of Panagia Kera and Agios Eftichios with frescoes from the 11th and 14th century, which are considered as the oldest known murals in Crete.
Chromonastiri was awarded the "Cleaner Organized Traditional Settlement" award by the Committee for Tourism Promotion of the Prefecture of Rethymno.
Starting point from Rethymno for cycling, walking or driving routes.
Roussospiti is a village where a wonderful Venetian fountain is preserved from the 17th century as well as the Byzantine church of the Virgin Mary with many interesting murals.
Right to the church you will see the most characteristic Venetian houses that are preserved in the village.
The road from Rethymno climbs upwards towards the picturesque settlement of Mikra Anogia and Agia Irini where a nunnery with the same name is situated dated in 1362. In 1995, it was awarded the Europa Nostra European Preservation and Renovation for Architectural Monuments Award.
A little further on, at Roussospiti, a wonderful Venetian fountain preserved from the 17th century and the Byzantine church of the Virgin Mary with very interesting iconography.
Right to the church you will see the most characteristic Venetian houses that are preserved in the village. The route from here leads to the small, green gorge of Mili and climbs up to the village Chromonastiri, where the magnificent Villa Clodio is situated, hosting the Military Museum.
You will see the Byzantine churches of Panagia Kera and Agios Eftichios with frescoes from the 11th and 14th century, which are considered as the oldest known murals in Crete. Shortly after the village, a dirt road leads to Prasses.
