Dit is Gorge, de meest indrukwekkende van zijn soort in de prefectuur Rethymno, maakt deel uit van de Natura 2000. Het begint aan het noordelijke uiteinde van de vallei van Potami Dam en eindigt voor het dorp Platanias.
.Het kan alleen in de zomer worden doorkruist. Het wordt gekenmerkt door zijn hoge klif muren die gastheer zeldzame soorten Kretenzer flora en fauna. De vegetatie varieert van noord tot zuid.De kloof wordt gezien als een belangrijke habitat voor trekvogels vanwege de vegetatie. Bij de uitgang, net voor de zee, is er een prachtige oude brug.Het hele gebied omvat ook een groot kustgedeelte ten oosten van Rethymno.

Prassano Gorge
This is Gorge, the most impressive of its kind in the prefecture of Rethymno, it is part of the Natura 2000. It begins from the northern end of the valley of Potami Dam and ends before the village of Platanias.
It can be traversed only in the summer. It is characterized by its high cliff walls which host rare species of Cretan flora and fauna. The vegetation varies from north to south. The gorge is considered to be an important habitat for migratory bird species due to its vegetation. At its exit, just before the sea, there is a beautiful old bridge. The whole area includes also a large coastal section east of Rethymno.
