Έκθεση ζωγραφικής του Frederick J. Fitham
Light & Water" Solo Painting Exhibition by Frederick J. Fitham at the House of Culture in Rethymno Ο Frederick J. Fitham παρουσιάζει τη νέα του ατομική έκθεση ζωγραφικής με τίτλο "LIGHT & WATER" στο Σπίτι Πολιτισμού του Ρεθύμνου, από τις 6 Αυγούστου έως τις 23 Αυγούστου 2026, στις 20:30. Η έκθεση παρουσιάζει ελαιογραφίες, υδατογραφίες και χαρακτικά που εκφράζουν το σημερινό καλλιτεχνικό του ύφος. Η συλλογή αυτή αναδεικνύει τα συνεχή θέματα και τις καλλιτεχνικές μετατοπίσεις στο έργο του με την πάροδο του χρόνου. Το κεντρικό κομμάτι της έκθεσης είναι "Homage to Hokusai," μια σύγχρονη καλλιτεχνική συνομιλία με το διάσημο "Μεγάλο Κύμα" από τον Ιάπωνα αφέντη. Πριν μετακομίσει μόνιμα στην Ελλάδα, ο κ. Fitham σπούδασε στη Σχολή Τέχνης του Τσέλτενχαμ και στο Κολλέγιο του Αγίου Παύλου (Bristol University). Στη συνέχεια εργάστηκε ως καθηγητής τέχνης στο St Crispin’s School κοντά στο Λονδίνο—μια εμπειρία που διαμόρφωσε βαθιά την καλλιτεχνική του ταυτότητα. Από τότε που εγκαταστάθηκε στο Ρέθυμνο, η πόλη και το όμορφο κρητικό τοπίο έχουν γίνει η κύρια έμπνευση για το καλλιτεχνικό του ταξίδι. Ως μεταφορικός καλλιτέχνης, ο κ. Fitham γοητεύεται από το πώς το φως δίνει σχήμα και όγκο σε αυτό που βλέπουμε—τοπία, θάλασσες και ουρανούς. Το νερό, με την ατελείωτη κίνησή του, παρέχει αμέτρητες προκλήσεις που τροφοδοτούν τη δημιουργικότητά του. "Η τέχνη είναι επικοινωνία," σημειώνει. "Αν ο θεατής νιώσει τον ενθουσιασμό που με ώθησε να ζωγραφίσω μια εικόνα, τότε έχω φτάσει στο στόχο μου. Η διαδικασία είναι βαθιά προσωπική. Όπως είπε ο W.H. Beecher: \"Κάθε καλλιτέχνης βουτάει το πινέλο του στη δική του ψυχή, και ζωγραφίζει τη δική του φύση στις φωτογραφίες του.\" Ο κ. Φίτχαμ έχει εντυπωσιακό διεθνές υπόβαθρο. Κλήθηκε στη Μπιενάλε της Φλωρεντίας το 2007 και στη Biblioteca Angelica στη Ρώμη το 2021. Το 2022, κέρδισε το Πρώτο Βραβείο στη διεθνή έκθεση PREMIO CAPITOLIUM στη Ρώμη. Οι πίνακες και τα χαρακτικά του βρίσκονται σε ιδιωτικές συλλογές σε όλη την Ελλάδα, την Ιταλία, το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, τη Γαλλία, την Ολλανδία, τη Γερμανία και τις ΗΠΑ. Αυτή είναι η 14η ατομική του έκθεση. Είναι μια ανοιχτή πρόσκληση για τους θεατές να εξερευνήσουν έναν κόσμο όπου το τοπίο, η θάλασσα και η ανθρώπινη εμπειρία έρχονται μαζί σε μια όμορφη ιστορία.

Light & Water" Solo Painting Exhibition by Frederick J. Fitham at the House of Culture in Rethymno Frederick J. Fitham presents his new solo painting exhibition titled "LIGHT & WATER" at the Rethymno House of Culture, from August 6 to August 23, 2026, at 20:30. The exhibition features oil paintings, watercolors, and engravings that express his current artistic style. This collection highlights the continuous themes and artistic shifts in his work over time. The central piece of the exhibition is "Homage to Hokusai," a modern artistic conversation with the famous "Great Wave" by the Japanese master. Before moving permanently to Greece, Mr. Fitham studied at the Cheltenham School of Art and St Paul’s College (Bristol University). He then worked as an art teacher at St Crispin’s School near London—an experience that deeply shaped his artistic identity. Since settling in Rethymno, the city and the beautiful Cretan landscape have become the main inspiration for his artistic journey. As a figurative artist, Mr. Fitham is fascinated by how light gives shape and volume to what we see—landscapes, seas, and skies. Water, with its endless movement, provides countless challenges that feed his creativity. "Art is communication," he notes. "If the viewer feels the excitement that pushed me to paint a picture, then I have reached my goal. The process is deeply personal. As W.H. Beecher said: 'Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.'" Mr. Fitham has an impressive international background. He was invited to the Florence Biennale in 2007 and the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome in 2021. In 2022, he won First Prize at the international PREMIO CAPITOLIUM exhibition in Rome. His paintings and engravings can be found in private collections across Greece, Italy, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the USA. This is his 14th solo exhibition. It is an open invitation for viewers to explore a world where the landscape, the sea, and human experience come together in one beautiful story.
