Exposition de peinture solo "Light & Water" de Frederick J. Fitham à la Maison de la culture à Rethymno Frederick J. Fitham présente sa nouvelle exposition de peinture solo intitulée "LIGHT & WATER" à la Maison de la culture de Rethymno, du 6 au 23 août 2026, à 20h30. L'exposition présente des peintures à l'huile, des aquarelles et des gravures qui expriment son style artistique actuel. Cette collection met en lumière les thèmes continus et les changements artistiques dans son travail au fil du temps. La pièce centrale de l'exposition est "Hommage à Hokusai", une conversation artistique moderne avec la célèbre "Great Wave" du maître japonais. Avant de déménager définitivement en Grèce, M. Fitham a étudié à l'École d'art de Cheltenham et au Collège St Paul (Université de Bristol). Il a ensuite travaillé comme professeur d'art à l'école St Crispin, près de Londres, une expérience qui a profondément façonné son identité artistique. Depuis son installation à Rethymno, la ville et le magnifique paysage crétois sont devenus la principale source d'inspiration de son parcours artistique. En tant qu'artiste figuratif, M. Fitham est fasciné par la façon dont la lumière donne forme et volume à ce que nous voyons – paysage, mer et ciel. L'eau, avec son mouvement sans fin, offre d'innombrables défis qui nourrissent sa créativité. « L'art, c'est la communication », note-t-il. « Si le spectateur ressent l'excitation qui m'a poussé à peindre une image, alors j'ai atteint mon objectif. Le processus est profondément personnel. Comme le disait W.H. Beecher : « Chaque artiste plonge son pinceau dans son âme, et peint sa propre nature dans ses images. » M. Fitham a un passé international impressionnant. Il a été invité à la Biennale de Florence en 2007 et à la Biblioteca Angelica à Rome en 2021. En 2022, il remporte le premier prix à l'exposition internationale PREMIO CAPITOLIUM à Rome. Ses peintures et gravures se trouvent dans des collections privées en Grèce, en Italie, au Royaume-Uni, en France, aux Pays-Bas, en Allemagne et aux États-Unis. C'est sa 14e exposition solo. C'est une invitation ouverte pour les téléspectateurs à explorer un monde où le paysage, la mer et l'expérience humaine se réunissent dans une belle histoire.

Light & Water" Solo Painting Exhibition by Frederick J. Fitham at the House of Culture in Rethymno Frederick J. Fitham presents his new solo painting exhibition titled "LIGHT & WATER" at the Rethymno House of Culture, from August 6 to August 23, 2026, at 20:30. The exhibition features oil paintings, watercolors, and engravings that express his current artistic style. This collection highlights the continuous themes and artistic shifts in his work over time. The central piece of the exhibition is "Homage to Hokusai," a modern artistic conversation with the famous "Great Wave" by the Japanese master. Before moving permanently to Greece, Mr. Fitham studied at the Cheltenham School of Art and St Paul’s College (Bristol University). He then worked as an art teacher at St Crispin’s School near London—an experience that deeply shaped his artistic identity. Since settling in Rethymno, the city and the beautiful Cretan landscape have become the main inspiration for his artistic journey. As a figurative artist, Mr. Fitham is fascinated by how light gives shape and volume to what we see—landscapes, seas, and skies. Water, with its endless movement, provides countless challenges that feed his creativity. "Art is communication," he notes. "If the viewer feels the excitement that pushed me to paint a picture, then I have reached my goal. The process is deeply personal. As W.H. Beecher said: 'Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.'" Mr. Fitham has an impressive international background. He was invited to the Florence Biennale in 2007 and the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome in 2021. In 2022, he won First Prize at the international PREMIO CAPITOLIUM exhibition in Rome. His paintings and engravings can be found in private collections across Greece, Italy, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and the USA. This is his 14th solo exhibition. It is an open invitation for viewers to explore a world where the landscape, the sea, and human experience come together in one beautiful story.
