The Neratze Mosque is a historic building with a high minaret in the old town centre of Rethymnon in Crete.
HistoryVenetian time: The building was first a Catholic church and monastery called Santa Maria.
.Ottoman time: After the conquest in 1657 the Ottomans made it a mosque. They named it after Gazi Hüseyin Pasha.
The minaret: In 1890 a large minaret with two balconies was added.

Moskee Neratze
De Neratze-moskee is een historisch gebouw met een hoge minaret in het oude stadscentrum van Rethymnon op Kreta.
GeschiedenisVenetiaanse tijd: Het gebouw was eerst een katholieke kerk en klooster genaamd Santa Maria.
Ottomaanse tijd: Na de verovering in 1657 maakten de Ottomanen er een moskee van. Ze vernoemden het naar Gazi Hüseyin Pasha.
De minaret: In 1890 kwam er een grote minaret met twee balkons bij.
Dit is de hoogste minaret van de stad.Huidig gebruikMuziekschool: Tegenwoordig zit het gemeentelijk muziekconservatorium (Odeon) in het gebouw.
